Delve into Northern Vietnam’s most treasured attractions on this thirteen day journey. This expedition takes us to Vietnam’s charming capital, Hanoi, where we will tour some of the city’s most compelling historic attractions, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Temple of Literature. We will venture into the remote Northern countryside to see the magnificent hill town of Sapa, surrounded by undulating rice fields. Here we will take a walking tour of the nearby hill-tribe villages, admiring the dramatic scenery en route. We will experience colourful weekend markets where ethnic minority communities gather in their distinctive dress. We will make our way across this mountainous region, enjoying panoramic vistas, discovering the simple lifestyle of the hill-tribe communities and experiencing home stays with local families. We will explore Thac Ba Lake by boat and foot, taking in countless islands, gliding fishing boats, hidden caves and lush vegetation. We will embark on an overnight cruise through the astonishing Halong Bay, visiting the captivating Surprise Cave and absorbing the remarkable and unique scenery of the Bay.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival – Hanoi

Greeted  at airport by our guide and driven to hotel. Check in hotel and have free time.

OVERNIGHT: Hanoi MEALS: No

On arrival at Hanoi Airport, you are greeted  by our guide and taken to your hotel by private transfer. You may have free time to relax and catch your first glimpse of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. This treasured city is a fascinating blend of East and West, combining traditional Sino-Vietnamese motifs with French flair. The building boom has made Hanoi a rapidly developing city in Southeast Asia. However, it still retains an old charm brought from a thousand year of history, with many interesting cultural and historic monuments, beautiful lakes, shady parks, bustling street markets, funny shops and open air eating spots jostled in ancient houses, and historic temples adjoining colonial style structures. They offer both local and foreigner visitors an endless exploration. You can stroll through the fascinating old quarter containing many vibrant streets which are named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. The lively atmosphere in Hanoi old quarter runs from the early hours until late at night  with many street vendors calling, horns honking, and chaotic traffic with waves of motorbikes you’ve never experienced.

Day 2

Hanoi City Tour

Spend a day to explore Hanoi, seeing Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum ( close on Mon. and Fri) and  Ho Chi Minh House , One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of  Literature  and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.  Take a walk around the old quarter and enjoy a water puppet show.

Day 3

Hanoi – Lao Cai – Sapa

Travel by vehicle on the  express way from  Hanoi to Lao Cai and venture into Sapa Hillstation. Check in hotel and catch a glimpse of Sapa or join an optional cable car ride to Phansipan Mountain.

Day 4

Sapa Walking – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van

Start exploring Sapa Hillstation on a walk from Lao Chai to  Ta Van Villages. Meet hill tribe people and discover the breaktaking mountain scenery. Drive back to Sapa .

Day 5

Sapa – Bac Ha Market – Ban Pho Village Walking

Depart Sapa and drive through the rugged region to Bac Ha. Visit the week-end market and embark on a trek to explore some villages set around Bac Ha and many local hill tribe people. Spend this night at a Flower Hmong   family.

Day 6

Bac Ha – Xin Man – Hoang Su Phi – Ha Giang

Leave the village of previous night and travel by road through the most mountain region to Ha Giang Town.  En route, stop in Xin Man and Hoang Su Phi to admire  landscape and hill triple people. Arriving at Tay Village near Ha Giang, check in local house.

Day 7

Ha Giang – Yen Minh – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van

Get up early to see the local life before setting off on trip to Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. En route, visit Heaven Gate ,  many hill tribe groups and Hmong King Palace.

OVERNIGHT: Dong Van MEALS: Breakfast

Day 8

Dong Van – Lung Cu Flagpole – Meo Vac

Enjoy a short walk to explore Dong Van Town with old quarter and market. Continue venturing into this remote area and visit Lung Cu Flag Tower. Drive through Dong Van Geopark and catch a view of Nho Que  River, Tu San Canyon and Ma Phi Leng Pass.

OVERNIGHT: Meo Vac MEALS: Breakfast

Day 9

Meo Vac – Ha Giang – Ham Yen – Thac Ba Lake

Continue venturing into Dong Van Geo Park and travel through Meo Vac and Yen Minh to Ha Giang.  Keep driving to Ham  Yen and Thac Ba Lake. Spend this night at a White Trouser Dao  family.

Day 10

Thac Ba Lake – Hanoi

Enjoy a boat trip to explore Thac Ba Lake  and drive back to Hanoi.

Day 11

Hanoi – Halong Bay

Take a drive through the countryside to  Halong Bay. Embark a cruise for two day trip in Halong Bay, visit the scenic stone landscape and enjoy sea activities.

Day 12

Halong Bay – Hanoi

Get up early to join the Tai Chi exercise or explore the bay at dawn. Visit Surprise cave and have brunch on cruise before heading back to Hanoi.

Day 13

Hanoi – Departure

Check out hotel and transfer to airport for departure.

PASSPORT & VISA

The passport must have six-months validity remaining and one blank page for entry stamp. To enter Vietnam, foreigners require a valid visa, except  nationals of certain countries, which may visit Vietnam without visa for a period of time. You are required to contact our sales dep. to get the update visa exemption.

VACCINATION

At this time, no vaccination is required, but you should check with your doctor the health  information of Vietnam.

CUSTOM REGULATION

Based on the current custom regulation of Vietnam, visitors can get free import : 200 cigarettes, or 20 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, 1,5 liters liquor at 20% volumes and above or 2 liters liquor below 20% volume or 3 liters of alcoholic beverages (excl. wines) and soft drinks, 5 kilograms of tea in maximum, 3 kilograms of coffee in maximum, a reasonable quantity of perfume and personal belongings, and other goods, total value of which is not exceeding ten million VND.

Import and export of firearms and ammunition is prohibited. Transit transportation of firearms, ammunition, explosives and highly dangerous goods is subject to prior approval from the government of Viet Nam.

No restriction of currency is applied for entry or exit Vietnam. However you must make the declaration if you bring along  Vietnamese Dong in excess of VND 150,000,000 or foreign currency in excess of 5,000 U.S. dollars or equivalent.
