Explore the charm of southern Laos with this relaxing trip to Khong Island and the lush surrounding archipelago, experiencing the peace of nature and local life on the river. This tour will take us on a journey through the scenic islands of Southern Lao, with their lush jungles, rugged mountains and stunning waterfalls. Arriving on Khong Island, previously only accessible by boat, we will take a gentle bike ride through the beautiful, quiet countryside to Wat Chom Thong pagoda. We will travel by traditional boat down the Mekong river to Don Khone island to take a stroll through Ban Khone village, past the abandoned French colonial railway. We will venture to the Liphi Waterfall by bicycle and have the chance to spot rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins. Before travelling to the former royal capital of Champasak, we will explore the spectacular Khon Phapheng Waterfalls, stretching 9.7 kilometers in length. In Champasak, we will visit the Wat Phou Temple hillside complex and museum, with spectacular views over the valley.

Come to see  three different sides of Laos across this eight day trip, experiencing the ancient town of Luang Prabang; the bustling capital of Vientiane; and the peace and beauty of rural Southern Laos. This adventure begins in the charming town of Luang Prabang, with visits to ancient temples and sacred monuments including Wat Visoun and the former Royal Palace. We will venture out of the town to see the mysterious Pakou caves, visiting small traditional villages to see local craft-making and meet hill-tribe communities. We will relax and swim at the spectacular 60 metre high Kuang Si Waterfalls. Our trip will take us to the country’s vibrant capital city, Vientiane, where we will explore ancient Buddhist temples and important monuments, including Wat Sisaket - the oldest temple in Vientiane, and the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew. We then journey South to the former royal capital of Champasak and take in the Wat Phou Temple hillside complex and museum, enjoying spectacular views over the valley. We will journey through this part of the Mekong river archipelago with bike rides and boat trips to charming villages, dramatic waterfalls and a coffee plantation, taking in beautiful landscapes on the way.

Experience the best of Laos with this epic two week adventure taking in the bustling capital city, ancient towns, charming villages, life on the Mekong River and spectacular natural scenery. This tour will commence in the ancient town of Luang Prabang, where we will see ancient temples, sacred monuments and colonial architecture. We will travel to the mysterious Pakou caves by bicycle, stopping at small traditional villages to see local craft-making and meet hill-tribe communities. We will journey to mystifying “Plain of Jars” archaeological site, also taking in the tranquil village of Van Vieng, and visiting various spectacular caves in the surrounding countryside. We will see Vientiane’s most treasured sites, including the oldest temple in the city and the former royal temple. From the city, we will take a scenic journey towards the Namsanam Waterfall and the Khong Lor Cave, which can be explored by boat. We will then venture south to Pakse, via the historic town of Savanakhet, where we can visit the oldest and largest monastery in southern Laos. From Pakse, we can trek between the Taldo Waterfalls, learning about local life and nature on the way. Our journey continues to the Boloven Plateau where we will see charming villages, dramatic waterfalls and a coffee plantation. We will travel by traditional boat along the Mekong river, taking in the lush islands of the archipelago and visiting the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. Our journey ends with a visit to former royal capital of Champasak, where we will see the Wat Phou Temple complex.

We will discover Vientiane, the lively capital of Laos, exploring its most exciting attractions, including a trip to the incredible Buddha Park. We will explore the charming town of Luang Prabang, with it’s majestic temples and French colonial architecture, as well as visiting the enigmatic Pakou caves. We will relax and swim at the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfall, with an option to visit a nearby butterfly farm.
