Discover the ancient town of Luang Prabang and the bustling capital city of Vientiane, with visits to mysterious caves, spectacular waterfalls and small hill-tribe villages, over this six day trip. This six trip day presents the best of Vientiane and Luang Prabang. In Vientiane, we will visit the city’s highlights, such as Wat Sisaket - the oldest temple in Vientiane, the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, Patouxai and the Luang Stupa. We will shop at the city’s vibrant morning market and get a taste of local life along the mighty Mekong river. We will see the symbolic Friendship Bridge and the impressive Buddha Park with its giant sculptures. We then travel to the charming town of Luang Prabang to see the temples of Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Mai, and visit former Royal Palace and National Museum. We will visit the sacred monument of Wat Visoun, walking the 318 steps up Phousi Hill to the golden stupa to enjoy panoramic views. We will venture to the mysterious Pakou caves, stopping off at small traditional villages to experience local craft-making and meet hill-tribe people. We will journey to the spectacular 60 meter high Kuang Si Waterfalls where we can relax and swim, with an opportunity to also visit a nearby butterfly park.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival – Vientiane

Greeted  at airport by our guide and driven to hotel. Check in hotel and have free time to explore the town at leisure.

On arrival at Vientiane Airport, you are greeted by our guide and taken to your hotel by private transfer. We may have some time free to explore the capital city of Laos, Vientiane.This laidback city stretching long the mighty Mekong River conjures up exoticimages with the curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and French influences. The initial history of Vientiane dates back the sixteenth century, but it left its legacy in form of few pagodas which are still standing in place after many struggles for the independence.The recent economic reform of Laos has made this small city undergosome vast changes with growing ambition. However, the historic old quarter of Vientiane still houses many French colonial villas, boutique hotels,vibrant shop malls, open air restaurants and tree lined boulevards. You can walk  from the old quarter area to the Mekong riverbank, admiring the cityscape and catching a view of the Mekong River. The long riverside is lined up with local food stands and open air bars, good place to enjoy some  drinks and  explore the authentic local ways of life.

Day 2

Vientiane – Buddha Park

Start a guided tour of Vientiane. Visit Wat Sisaket , Haw Pha Kaew , Patouxai and That Luang Stupa . Stroll around Morning Market before heading out of town to see Friendship Bridge and Buddha Park.

Day 3

Vientiane – Luang Prabang

Take flight to Luang Prabang and spend an afternoon to explore this ancient town. Visit Wat Xieng Thong, Royal Palace, National Museum and Wat Mai.

Day 4

Luang Prabang – Pakou Caves

Take a boat trip along Mekong River to visit Pakou Cave. En route , stop to see Ban Xang Hai. Explore Pakou Cave and drive back to Luang Prabang Town. Continue seeing this town with Ban Phanom, Wat Visoum and Phousi Hill.

Day 5

Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfall Trekking

Drive to Ban Long Lao Village of Hmong hill tribe people and start trekking through lush jungle to Kuang Si Waterfall. Enjoy relaxing and swimming at turquoise pools and  visit nearby bear sanctuary.

Day 6

Luang Prabang – Departure

Check out hotel and transfer to  airport for departure

PASSPORT & VISA

The passport must have six-months validity remaining and one blank page for entry stamp. To enter Laos, foreigners require a valid visa, except  nationals of certain countries, which may visit  Laos without visa for a period of time. You are required to contact our sales dep. to get the update visa exemption.

VACCINATION

At this time, no vaccination is required, but you should check with your doctor the health  information of Laos.

CUSTOM REGULATION

Based on the current custom regulation of Laos, visitors can get free import : 200 cigarettes or 500 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco; 2 liters of alcohol or wine or 5 liters of beer;  1 item of perfume or eau de toilette; personal effects.

 The foreign currency in amounts exceeding USD 2,000.- (in cash or checks) must be declared on arrival or departure.
