The Soc Trang Province is situated in Mekong Deltam and lies roughly between 9o14'N and 9o56''N latitude and between 105o34'E and 106o18''E longitude. It is bordered to the north west by Hau Giang Province. To the south west it is bordered by Bạc Lieu Province . And to the north east it is bordered by Tra Vinh Province . To the north is Vinh Long Province. To the south east is 72 km of coastline of the South China Sea. The province has two large rivers. The
Hau River, and the My Thanh River.
The provincial capital of Soc Trang province is the town which is also called Soc Trang. It is 231 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Soc Trang is 231km from Ho Chi Minh City, 60km from Can Tho. National Highways No.1A links the province and Can Tho, Bac Lieu.
The Bus Station is on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, north of the river. There are scheduled services with Mien Tay Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City’s as well as other centres in the Mekong Delta. The ferry service provides access to My Phuoc Island, a popular tourist sight.

The Soc Trang Province is covered by vast rice paddies, shrimp lagoons, luxuriant fruit gardens like longan, rambutan, durian, and orange… In this region are Viet (Kinh), Khmer, Hoa ethnic groups living together. The province has 89 pagodas of Khmer group, 47 pagodas of Hoa people. Ma Toc (Bat), Khleang, Chruitim Chas, Chen Kieu, and Buu Son Tu (Set) are famous pagodas.
The Soc Trang Province also give vistors a chance to taste tropical fruit in My Phuoc River Islet, or join many recreation and entertainment activities in Binh An Tourist Resort. Chol Chnam Thmay, Oc Om Boc festivals, Ngo Boat Race also attract many visitors.

The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang is expanding aquaculture to make the most of its favourable conditions, which includes 72 km of coastline, more than 100,000 ha of land and water surface suitable for aquatic farming, and a thick web of canals.
Over the past few years, the province has considered aquaculture a top priority, second only to agriculture.
The province's aquatic product output this year is expected to surpass 100 million tonnes, 70 percent from breeding and earn an export turnover of 350 million USD, according to the provincial Aquaculture Department.
In 2005, Soc Trang posted an aquatic product output of 55,000 tonnes. Its aquatic products have been exported to 40 countries and territories in the world.
The province plans to utilise 80,000 ha of water surface by 2010, and 100,000 ha by 2015.
Soc Trang has also attached importance to developing aquaculture processing capacity alongside breeding. Its aquatic product processing industry is developing at one of the highest rates in the Mekong Delta. The province currently has nine aquatic product processing factories, with a combined annual capacity of 72,000 tonnes
