The waterfall is located in Tan Hoi Commune, Duc Trong District, more than 45km away from Dalat City. This waterfall is the most magnificent and powerful waterfall in the vicinity of Dalat.
Ponguor Waterfall is 20m high in the mountains. The water falls into a big lake producing a great noise, whose echo can be heard far away.
Pongour is transcribed by French people from K’Ho language. It means the landlord of a white-clay area. According to French geological documents, this area has lots of kaolin.
Pougour is the only waterfall where an ethnic festival takes place. Every year, on the full moon day of the first lunar month, refined beautiful young people of every ethnic group gather for a spring pilgrimage, climb up the waterfall floors in a desire for eternal Elysium. This is a chance for better mutual understanding and love between one and the other. |
