| Bangkok - AirAsia has started flying from Kuala Lumpur to the Lao capital Vientiane on December 1, making it the first low-cost carrier to be given permission to fly into ASEAN's landlocked member country |
The airline operates three Kuala Lumpur-Vientiane weekly flights using Airbus 320 aircraft. The flight also completes the airline's coverage of the 10 ASEAN member countries, serving more than 80 routes in the region.<br>
In related news, Lao Airlines started twice-weekly flights from the heritage town of Luang Prabang to Kunming in China's Yunnan province on January 4, using ATR 72 aircraft. The airline is considering introducing a new flight from Luang Prabang to Jinghong, also in Yunnan province, this year.<br>
AirAsia is also considering increasing its China flights. It launched a Kuala Lumpur-Guangzhou service last month and plans to start serving Hainan in March and Guilin in April. It also plans to fly from Bangkok and East Malaysia to Guangzhou this year. |
