Yangon Airways was established in 1996, as a joint venture between Myanma Airways and Krong-Sombat Company of Thailand. In 1997, the MHE-Mayflower Company acquired the Krong-Sombat shares.
Yangon Airways has become a principal domestic airline in Myanmar flying scheduled and charter flight services to 13 prime commercial and tourist destinations in Myanmar.

Yangon Airways operates new and reliable ATR-72 Turbo-Prop aircraft fitted with state-of-the-art avionics systems.
The aircraft are maintained to the highest standards according to joint air regulation and are European license validated. The pilots are qualified to international standards. Their skills are updated regularly by on-going training in flight simulators at the manufacturer's Training Facilities.
